Seat Belts

Advanced Vehicle Builders ensure that only high quality approved seat belts are fitted to all our Euro Seats.

So how do we know whether or not a seat belt has been tested and furthermore, what safety standards has it achieved? These questions are answered by the label sewn into the belt. This label is more often orange in colour, but occasionally black. The approvals to which the seat belt must comply are ECE 16:04 or EEC/77/541.

E4 e4
This area denotes which approval the belt has attained and in which country the testing was carried out:-

E - The capital 'E' denotes ECE approval (ECE 16:04).

E4 - The number following 'E' or 'e' denotes the country of approval: i.e. 1 = Germany, 2 = France, 3 = Italy, 4 = Holland, 11 = UK.

The series of numbers at the top of the label denotes what type of belt it should be for the approval it has attained:-

A: Lap & diagonal belt with 3 or 4 anchorage points.
r: Interia belt with retracting mechanism (i.e. reel)
4: Emergency locking retracting mechanism.
M: Multiple sensitivity (i.e. retracting mechanism senses webbing acceleration and vehicle deceleration.
